I’ve often read and relied on a lot of reviews but this is one of the few I’ve written.

This was easier said than done considering it was our first time hiring a professional decorator. We were budget conscious and Margarite remained respectful of that throughout.

Our project cost and timeline both came in within the original expectations that were set.
We felt we needed someone to help us bring together a stylish but cohesive look
- plus it certainly helped to have a mediator at times!

When my wife and I had different points of views, Margarite’s patience and collaborative nature helped to ground us on design fundamentals while bringing in elements to reflect our individual tastes. This kept us both engaged throughout the process and created a sense of connection to the final outcome for each of us.

As mentioned, because we were new to this type of process (custom made furniture and treatments etc.), I had many questions and apprehensions throughout.

Her intuitive nature often sensed and addressed my apprehensions. I also found her highly responsive with timely follow up when she had to research answers to my questions.
She was also available to offer consultations on other elements of our project (eg. flooring, painting etc.) with referrals to high quality sources and very qualified trades people.

“Several years ago my husband and I found our dream home in downtown Toronto, walking distance to work, shops and entertainment. The house was great but the decor consisted of mismatched furniture we had collected over many years.

We interviewed 3 interior decorators before hiring Margarite, who immediately impressed us with her style concepts and professional demeanor. “I have worked with Margarite for over 10 years and am very satisfied with the completed projects that she worked on with me.

Recently I had my roof, eaves trough, and siding replaced and with Margarite’s help she was able to give me colours that would work with my house. The house is 40 years old.

“I was completely overwhelmed trying to find furniture that worked well with the area rug that I recently purchased. I felt lost and also quite concerned because I had offered to host a bridal shower within weeks but I really wanted my living room completed. I decided I needed help so I looked online and found Margarite Oliveira.

When I called Margarite and told her I was hosting a bridal shower in a few weeks and needed to furnish my living room, she reassured me that she could help and that even though we didn’t much have time, she felt that we could still complete the room before the party. I was relieved and excited about the next few steps.

Margarite, knowing my budget restraints and extremely short time frame, came by my house and looked at the room and my new area rug. She figured out all the colours in the rug and then off we went shopping.

After our first trip, I found my chairs, coffee table and side tables which also ended up being the store where I purchased my sofas. Margarite accessorized the room and managed to complete the room two days before the bridal shower. Everything came together unbelievably quickly and beautifully.

I had no idea how gorgeous my living room could look until now and I absolutely love it! Margarite, who was faced with a tight budget and a short time frame, exceeded all my expectations and completely blew me away with the final product.

“As first-time home-owners, we felt overwhelmed by how much needed to be done to our house in terms of decorating and design. Some rooms were in desperate need of a design update, others simply needed decorating to make our house feel like a comfortable home.

Our first collaboration with her was decorating our family room in order to turn it into a cozy, multi- functional space. Margarite helped us select a sophisticated, yet fun colour palette, came up with storage ideas to hide the clutter of two young children, and addressed the functionality of the room by assisting us with the design of a desk to be built in to an existing alcove.

She was able to provide us with contacts for both a seamstress and carpenter with whom she had worked before. The results were fabulous, and it’s now not only the most used room in our home, but also our favorite room.
We next tackled the complete renovation of two very old bathrooms that desperately needed updating. The challenge was to make the very small bathrooms functional, and as airy as possible, while maximizing storage space.

We relied on Margarite’s advice on every aspect of these renovations – from layout, to lighting, tile choices, fixtures, and even accessories.

In addition to designing two absolutely beautiful bathrooms, Margarite also made sure to address our family’s needs – in our case, bathrooms that would grow with us as our young children grow up. Though we know what we like in design, we often find ourselves hindered by indecision when it comes to actually proceeding with a renovation, or at other times, overwhelmed by the number of choices and options.

Consulting with Margarite gives us confidence in our ideas and choices, and advice and guidance when needed.
